Program Focus
Biblical interpretation, theology, biblical exegesis, and spiritual formation
Offered through our campus and online M.A. in Biblical Studies will provide academic training and practical leadership skills for those who have diverse callings and are interested in an integrative biblical studies education grounded in the truth of the Scriptures. A higher education master’s degree program like CRBI’s dives deeper into the Old and New Testaments and equips you with the knowledge to live life from a Christian worldview.
About the Masters in Christian Leadership
The Master of Arts in Christian Leadership (MACL) is a graduate program designed to prepare students for ministry, both lay and vocational, in their churches. (The MACL is also offered online) Building upon the core elements of biblical and theological knowledge, the program focuses on developing skills for serving as a leader in Christian ministry, or in whatever setting God leads. Drawing from our specific focus on the Bible, graduates of the MACL program at CRBI can responsibly apply biblical truths to contemporary ministry settings.
Our 36-hour MACL program is built upon a 15-hour core in Bible and Theology. Students will then take 12 hours of electives focused on Practical Theology (i.e., ministry classes). A particularly important aspect of the program is the opportunity to be discipled through the Spiritual Formation and Internship programs. For the remaining nine hours, you have the flexibility to choose from our offering of classes in our traditional areas of biblical studies, theology and practical ministry, or in our other MA program areas: biblical languages, apologetics, classics and philosophy.
This Master’s degree program is designed to prepare students for a ministry of biblical counseling to individuals, couples, and families in a congregational, denominational agency, counseling center, or missions setting.
Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to…
- Demonstrate a growing, Christ-like character and a sense of God’s calling to ministry.
- Understand the Christian worldview and have a global vision for fulfilling the Great Commission.
- Demonstrate significant knowledge of the Bible, interpret Scripture’s original meaning, and apply Scripture to contemporary situations.
- Integrate systematic and historical theology into a larger biblical framework.
- Describe the theology and methodology of biblical counseling.
- Demonstrate skill in the practice of biblical counseling.
Doctorate programs
The Doctor of Theology (ThD) program prepares teacher-scholars in interdisciplinary theological fields, for the Church in its institutions of higher learning around the world.
The ThD program builds on expertise and training developed in approved master’s programs. It provides individuals equipped with skills and methods appropriate to genuine scholarship to do original and responsible research, and it promotes the proficient application of sound and valid principles of biblical interpretation and historical research. It seeks to acquaint students with the Judeo-Christian heritage and the findings of various branches of biblical scholarship and communicates the religious and ethical values of that heritage as found in Scripture .
This degree is not earned by the mere accumulation of credits. It is conferred on those who demonstrate clearly and capably, in written and oral form, mature and independent research marked by discriminating analysis, careful evaluation of evidence and theories, and sound interpretation of available data. The ThD is granted only to those who give evidence that they have attained a distinctly superior level of expertise in their principal area of study and the supplementary cognate area.
Doctrate Programmes
The Doctor of Divinity is the highest earned degree for the practice of Christian ministry. The design of the degree is to enhance understanding and improve the skills of the minister whether in the local congregation or another related field. The program provides advanced training in the fields of Christian theology and apologetics, equipping students to become leaders in academics and ministry and providing direct interaction with leaders in theology and apologetics while also offering practical opportunities to write and teach in the field. This degree will qualify the student to teach at the university or graduate level, while also providing insight and information useful to the professional minister.
